When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. Retainers help keep your teeth in their corrected position.
Fixed and Removable Retainers
Removable retainers can be clear or brightly colored and are most often worn just at night. Fixed retainers are a thin gold or alloy wire that is sealed to the tongue-side of your teeth. They are invisible to your friends and help maintain the corrected position of your teeth.
Dr. Kubik is often asked, “How long do I need to wear my retainers?” The human body is a very dynamic structure, continually changing throughout our entire lives. The rate of change occurs rapidly as a child and adolescent, slows as a young adult, and then increases once again as we age. Our teeth are part of this dynamic structure, changing with each passing year. Your retainers provide the resistance to this constant pressure to change. Take good care of your retainers, replace or repair them when they are lost or broken, and wear them as directed, and you can enjoy your great smile for years to come.
